Parent Dogs

At Aspen Hill Doodles we care about our dogs and breed them primarily to be companions. Our breeding dogs are all screened for genetic health defects. We select the very best puppies to continue in our breeding program. Temperament and health are top priorities. We are proud to have produced many generations of outstanding companions. All of

Luna, Penny and Tino

our parent dogs live in private homes as pets. Our foundation Golden Retrievers have OFA excellent hips, sound hearts, excellent eyes and good elbows. They have medium length "easy keep" coats, and they love to retrieve! They are sweet and intelligent.

We look for the best qualities in our poodles as well. Our miniature poodles keep up with the big dogs in character and stamina. We do the suggested health clearances for each of our breeds and then we take it one step further by doing some of the golden tests on our poodles and poodle tests on our goldens. This helps us to produce the healthiest puppies possible!

The Australian Labradoodles in our program compliment our goldendoodles beautifully. Their coats are wavy and luxurious. Their temperaments are gentle and biddable. We do extensive health testing on our Australian Labradoodles, including the issues known in their parent breeds, and including many of the tests that we do for all of our dogs.

We do extensive genetic testing on our parent dogs. In 2019 we have begun to use Genetic Health Test Panels for our incoming Parent Dogs. The panels cover the tests that we have always done, and include some new tests as well. Visit our Genetic Health Test Panels page, for more information.

Our Girls

Fanny

Fanny is a sweet girl like her mother Koda. She rarely barks and is light on her feet like her father Sawyer. She is polite and waits patiently at meal time. Fanny is affectionate with her housemate Waffles, who is also an Aspen Hill Doodles Parent Dog. She runs shoulder-to-shoulder with him and jumps back and forth OVER his back during their game! When she wants something she'll come and sit and put her paw on your knee. She can eat from a fork! She likes TV if dogs, cats or horses are on. She is gentle with the family cat, who she likes to snuggle on the bed. Fanny is popular when she goes for walks in her neighborhood. Her Aspen Hill Grandmother is Gracie, her Great Grandparents are Deja and Cloudy (see our RETIRED DOGS page).

Fanny

Zinnia

Zinnia is a patient and well mannered dog. She is Emma and Kyle's daughter and the full sister of Hazel Moonlight (see Kyle and Hazel Moonlight below, Emma is RETIRED). She happily accompanies her guardians on fun adventures including cross-country skiing, camping, and exploring each new day in the garden where she greets the birds and squirrels and watches for deer by the pond. Her favorite activity is hiking with her doodle friend Django in all kinds of weather where they meet new people and dogs and sniff out animal tracks and notice new budding plants. She loves visiting her dad Kyle. They play chase and watch the bunnies through the window. She knows words in English, French and Spanish! She politely reminds her guardians about mealtime, or bedtime or time to go outside by gently nudging their thigh with her nose. It works every time! Zinnia's grandparents are Allie and Waffles, Sunshine and Milo. Her Aspen Hill Great-grandparents are Hallie and Jasper and April. Zinnia

Hazel Moonlight

Hazel is the daughter of Emma (RETIRED) and Kyle(below). She is Zinnia's full sister (above). Her demeanor is reminiscent of Emma: composed and thoughtful. She enjoys playing with her human kids, especially when they snuggle with her. She will lie down with the baby and likes it when he grabs her face because then she can give him a big kiss! She will sit patiently at the window and watch the deer but feels it is her duty to scare off the squirrels. She loves walks wih the family and always makes certain everyone is within view. She is quick to learn new tricks and loves meeting new people. Hazel's grandparents are Allie and Waffles, Sunshine and Milo. Her Aspen Hill Great-grandparents are Hallie and Jasper and April. Kona

Kona is Stella and Barrabas' daughter (on our RETIRED DOGS page and below). She is a friendly, energetic dog who loves to play with other dogs. Despite her playful nature, she is also gentle with her family's kids and adapts easily to family routines. Kona is an agile runner. She's fast and turns quickly and can jump high. She learns rapidly and is good at obeying a wider range of commands. Kona warms up to strangers easily and loves attention including cuddling in bad at night. Yoda

Yoda is a Moyen (medium sized) Poodle. He's a happy little boy who welcomes people and dogs alike with bright eyes and a wagging tail. His natural gait is a prance and he greets people by standing on his hind legs and waving his front paws. He has rounds that he patrols throughout his house, checking-up on his family, and keeping track of their whereabouts. He knows how to open and close doors, and opens his crate door so he can go in at bedtime. If a family member sits down, he likes to lie on their feet. If there are no feet available, he curls up around his young owner's shoes. He loves to watch neighborhood activities through his front window. He's a lively and cheerful dog.

Kyle

Kyle is our Medium F1B Goldendoodle. His mom is our Sunshine and his dad is our Milo (on our RETIRED DOGS page). He has a lovely soft coat and a delightful personality. His favorite game is fetch in the lake, he's a great swimmer! He is eternally positive, even convincing grumpy older dogs to play. He loves hiking and camping and cuddling. He takes treats very gently and actually chews all of his food! He enjoys blowing bubbles in his water bowl through his nose! He brings his leash when his "mom" puts her shoes on, knowing it's time for a walk (a little like his grandma Hallie.) He watches smiling out the front window for his humans to return home. Sawyer

Sawyer is Gracie's son (see our RETIRED DOGS page), his dad is a small standard poodle. You can see a photo of him with his litter towards the bottom of our PUPPIES page. He is smart and eager to please and very easily trained. He knows his basic commands and also to go to his bed when company comes... and then "giddy-up" means he can get up. He is happy to do that! Guests are impressed by his patience. He knows to stay quietly on his bed at dinner time too, but looks very sad and cute with his head on his two front paws. He loves the blow dryer. If someone is using it, he comes running, hoping he will get a little spray of air. He is an energetic, joyful dog and when he's feeling especially good, he runs around his yard, leaping effortlessly as if there were no gravity, as if he were on the moon! His Aspen Hill Grandparents are Deja and Cloudy (see our RETIRED DOGS page). He has many children in his life. He is lovable with everyone and carefully gentle with the baby. He's a great fetcher and respectful of the family chickens and bunnies who share his back yard.

He is a cheerful boy who is always ready to accompany his human mom on adventures. He adores playing with dogs big or small and with his family cats. He loves people too. He enjoys exploring mountain trails. He's a natural at stand-up paddle boarding and he's good at fetch! His beautiful rusty colored coat is as soft as silk, and he's a great cuddler! Barrabas

Barrabas is our first Australian Labradoodle. He's a delightful dog. He is so calm and well mannered that he has been able to have free run of his house since he was 6 months old, even when his people aren't home! Photographs don't do justice to his gorgeous red color and silky soft coat. He's a regular at his neighborhood park, loved by the other dogs and dog owners alike. When he arrives at the park he will run to greet the other dogs, looking back to smile at his people, then he'll go greet the humans, they all know who he is. He adores his toys and doesn't destroy them. He's quick to learn new tricks and he enjoys the company of children. If you're sitting on the couch, he'll cuddle by your feet and gently let you know that he is available for petting.

Winston

Winston is a character. He is a seventh generation Aspen Hill Doodle! Mango is his mom (on our RETIRED DOGS page). His dad is an Australian Labradoodle. He's happiest when surrounded by his family. He is his human mom's co-worker. He's right there beside her, or on her lap throughout the day. Winston loves to cuddle and greets the family enthusiastically whether they've been out for the day or only five minutes. If someone is blow-drying their hair he stands close so he can get some blow-drying himself. He participates in the activities of his human boy, assisting in lacrosse practice and bedtime routines. He's athletic, running fast and jumping high. He makes his preferences known! Toys are best if squeakable, treats get spat out if they're not up to his standards. He enjoys orange, red and yellow bell peppers, but not green! His grandpa and friend Rusty (on this page) lives close. His neighbors are smitten with him and have biscuits waiting when he comes to their door.
